Who let the Dawgs out?!?!?

Hey hey happy CNY folks..... hope all your throats havent gone to hell after all the sinful new yr goodies haha.....

Lol you noe i guess what leo said about visiting relatives during CNY is true..... it's supposed to be an event to bring friends and relatives together, to catch up wif each other about what's been happening to each other...... and for some reason this always seems to evolve into some kind of political stuggle.... to see who's kids are doing better....... Oh well i guess it's the singaporean Kiasu metality.....

Well was jogging today when i decided in a moment of sianess to change my usual running route. Anyway i ended up running thru this landed estate near my house. And one of the strange things i realised was that the people living in this landed houses seemed to own pretty "normal" cars.... like hondas and toyotas and hyundais...... there were only like one or 2 BMWs and 1 jaguar.......

And on the flipside.... at my HDB carpark..... a lot of weird cars seem to have popped up man..... suddenly there are like 3 new BMWs.... a new white EVO 9, a Zonda, and a jaguar. Man i didnt noe the people at my block were so rich....

But anyway while running a new route today i got reminded about a poem i read about in"foxtrot"(thats right the comic strip=p) so here it is......

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Chinese New Year is the time of the year where people are compelled to visit thier relatives and this brings much unhappiness to some people, usually the kids.

Because of this particular reason, I have never visited anybody other than my grandparents, aunts and uncles who live on the same level as I do since Sec 2. Ok, I wouldn't consider visiting relatives who live in the same block as me as special because I see them almost everyday.

What irks me during visits are the comments that relatives make. Being a cynic, I feel that there is always a underlying meaning to whatever thing they say that soundssss so harmless.

1. Wow, thanks, you're so sweet!

Underlying meaning: Thanks for being nice, I think you're being nice to the point that you're geting diabetic

2. Wah, you've grown so big size!

- You're getting fatter than before and you're gonna die damm young!

3. Gong Xi Fa Cai! (said ten times over)

- Gong my ass, I'm gonna use the hammer to 'gong' you to death! Why on earth do you visit me?

4. Hows your studies?

- I hope its worse than my son's / daughter's so I can show off

5. 不要客气

- Don't take too much of my stuff, I got better guest to entertain....

Right, these are just some examples. Pure nonsense.

Enjoy your New Year...

Happy Chinese New Year!!

Hey peeps! Happy Chinese New Year to all of you! Its the time of the year where you stay at home and eat all the unhealthy stuff and get a bad sore throat at the end of 4 days. (4 days this year) Not to mention, an increase in blubber mass (at least for me). I better get it off soon.

Wow, this is the first time in three years that I get to spend CNY at home without worries of booking in the next day because I'm out from green hell where everybody wears green and live in a land of green and having loud machines moving next to you. At last.

Oh, there was one thing that kinda surprised my PDP group, for all people who know me, they all know who my PDP tutor is. But but, what really touched my PDP group was that she send us an email at the end of the whole program to encourage us.

Allow me to quote her, "Here is to wish you all a wonderful career in Medicine. Remember that Medicine is a lifelong CALLING not just a job to be done. If you regard this as just a salaried job you will burn out with the heavy work loads. If you are motivated by this calling you will find joy and feel positive even when you are dead tired from work. So if this is what you feel you want to do most then put your hearts into it, don't flinch and don't be discouraged even when it gets tough."

I hope I'll have that attitude in the many years of study and practice, showing genuine care and concern for patients of who come from all different backgrounds.

Well..I won my aston martin Db9!! Not in real, but on NFSMW! gd stuff man..gotta win that SLK...then get my M3 back..haha..try to do it during the new yr hols man..

Alright...hitting back to guyton before hyperkalemia hits me...

Return of the Defunct Theme Park

Man my nose is still acting up today..... and i've been getting a lot of single sneezes..... someone must really be thinking of me haha=p

But anyway while jogging past Haw Par Villa today i realised for the 1st time..... that it's actually open!!! Yeah despite the fact that i ran past that place so many times last sem i only realised today that the park is open=( I always thought that the park was closed down last time due to bad business.... but looks like the place is open again now thx to help from the Singapore Tourism Board(HPV is now one of SG's national heritage sites)

So i decided to go take a walk inside... and man even after so many years, the place still freaks me out man. I remember going there as a kid and taking that water ride thru the "18 levels of Hell" attraction, and how much all those morbid ways of toturing people in hell used to scare me. Of cos, i was pretty surprised that the ride is still open and running now! Too bad i didnt have a dollar with me to take the ride haha......

But man was that place quiet. And i mean quiet. When i walked into the inner parts HPV i was like the only person around. And it was so quiet that when the wind blows you can hear the rustling of the leaves so clearly..... brrrr.........

Well maybe one of these days i might bring my camera along and take some pics of the park....... got some really creepy statues there man=p

Useless Trivia

arghh my nose has been acting up like crazy over the past 2 days...... seems like my sinusitis is getting to me again.... but did you know that sneezing actually can mean a lot of other stuff also?=p

In Hungary, a sneeze that occurs after making a statement is sometimes interpreted as a confirmation by God that the statement was true.

It is a common belief in India that one sneezes if he remembers or is remembered by someone dear to him. Most Indians consider sneezing healthy, and the inability to sneeze to be cause for alarm. Psychology Today reports that Indian scientists have labeled an inability to sneeze "asneezia"; the people of India have long used snuff as a way to artificially induce the healthy sneeze.

According to an old Japanese belief, a sneeze is a sign that someone is talking about you.

In English-speaking countries, it is common for at least one person to say "Bless you" after someone sneezes. The traditional explaination for the custom is that it began literally as a blessing. Pope Gregory I the Great (540-604 AD) ascended to the Papacy just in time for the start of the plague in 590 AD (his successor succumbed to it). To combat the plague Gregory ordered litanies, processions and unceasing prayer for God's intercession. When someone sneezed, they were immediately blessed ("God bless you!") in the hope that they would not subsequently develop the plague.

Thx to wikipedia for this info=)

The curse of naming your hard drive wrongly......

Arghh so sad man..... my external hard disk has died on me..... well i guess i should have expected it the day i formatted the new drive and my bro went to label the drive as Flying Hard Disk. Since then the damn thing has been dropped 4 times (once by me, THRICE by my bro). Man there goes 100plus bucks of my hard earned coporal pay. Well thank goodness the data inside is backed up on my home desktop..

Lol was listening to class 95 in the evening today when i heard the most incredulous dedication ever. There was this guy who apparently folded nearly 2500 paper cranes for his girlfriend for their 7th year aniversary together. Yep. 2500. In fact it was so incredulous that Rod Monteiro who was reading it couldnt believe it either. Man thats a lot of origami paper man....

Of cos the dude could just be fibbing, but then again 2500 paper cranes, while it sounds like a lot, is actually feasible. I had a campmate in NS who folded 999 paper stars within the short span of like 3 weeks plus. And the thing is he didnt even buy those ready made paper strips. He actually bought colored paper and manually cut the strips himself. Now thats "chi qing" man......

Arghh the one month of dec hols seems to have really taken the momentum out of me.... and the fact that i now have a much nicer hall room to slack in doesnt help either=p Man i really got to get off my ass and start doing some work.....

Listening to Elton John's Sorry seems to be the hardest word while typing this blog.

Weekends are getting to become a bore, I'm not saying that my previous weekends are not boring. It just became worse.

Now, I'm stuck at home wondering if I should study or just chill out. I'm having this darn feelin and a nagging voice that tells me that I should be lying on bed while work starts to pile up unabatedly.

Ok...thats it..I think I'm going for a jog to run away from all my troubles so I'll be positive ever!

Bought a new pair of sandals from Bata yesterday. Now have you guys ever wondered what BATA means? Well its means "Buy and Throw Away". Ok im just joking.... but then again Bata's quality has come a long way since the heyays where it just produced white canvas school shoes haha.... But then again with kids nowadays becoming so brand concious, i doubt Bata shoes will ever satisfy them haha;p

Ok just felt the need to blog some crap becos it seems like the blog is dieing out..... oh well at least there's still leo to contribute haha...
